Fire Chief Jeffrey S. Kestly
Chief Kestly, a life-long resident of Selma, was named the
City’s fourth full-time Fire Chief on February 1, 2003.
Chief Kestly manages a $2.86 million dollar
budget, including a $1.4 million ambulance budget. He provides leadership to 24
full-time employees and 20 reserve firefighters, and oversees two fire stations,
as well as Fire Department Headquarters. The department responds to
over 4,000 calls a year. Some of his key projects include: development and administration
of recently developed Standards of Cover; development of the department’s ten
year plan; enhancing the department’s hazardous materials and terrorism
response; obtaining almost $800,000 in grants through FEMA, DHS and other
smaller entities over the past four years; and development of the department’s first
ever EMS Bike Medic Program.
Division Chief – Michael Kain
Division
Chief Michael Kain is a life long
resident of the valley. He currently oversees operations, fire
suppression, EMS services, training,
facility management, and fleet.
Division Chief Kain
was hired by the Selma
Fire Department in 1987
as a Firefighter/Paramedic. He has
promoted to each rank within the Selma
Fire Department.
Division Chief Kain
manages many programs, including
training for all fulltime staff and
reserves and also provides leadership
on the fire ground and EMS incidents.
He provides an EMT training class to the
public which is taught every 4 months.
Some of his key projects include: development of
standards of cover document for the
Selma Fire Department, development of
task books for each position, and working with administration to
provide good planning and leadership.
