New Selma Fire Department Happenings

  • The department recently placed into service a new 2007 Pierce Contender triple combination pumper.  The new unit is capable of pumping 1,500 gallons per minute and carries all of the required firefighting and rescue equipment including the "jaws of life".  This new unit replaces our 1985 pumper and is in service at Station #53.

Per-diem Paramedic Recruitment

The fire department is currently recruiting for the position of per-diem paramedic. This is a non-safety, civilian position that works during the week usually from  8-10 hours per day.  The current hourly rate is $17.00 per hour.  For further information please contact the department at (559)-891-2211.

Selma Fire Department has been recognized as having some of the most talented paramedics in the area.  The fire department provides up-to-date and modern equipment.  The fire department staffs two ambulances 24/7 with firefighters cross-trained in EMS in addition to one ambulance during peak hours, staffed with civilian EMS personnel.  The ambulance covers 150 square miles of Fresno County.  The city is projected to grow significantly in the near future which will allow us to bring on additional personnel and staff new stations.  There are currently two new fire stations planned with the new development.  For more information on the city's potential growth please see the economic development area of the city's website.
