The department
recently placed into service a new
2007 Pierce Contender triple
combination pumper. The new unit
is capable of pumping 1,500 gallons
per minute and carries all of the
required firefighting and rescue
equipment including the "jaws of
life". This new unit replaces
our 1985 pumper and is in service at
Station #53.

Per-diem Paramedic
Recruitment
The fire department is currently
recruiting for the position of per-diem
paramedic. This is a non-safety,
civilian position that works during the
week usually from 8-10 hours per
day. The current hourly rate is
$17.00 per hour.

Selma Fire Department has been
recognized as having some of the most
talented paramedics in the area.
The fire department provides up-to-date
and modern equipment. The fire
department staffs two ambulances 24/7
with firefighters cross-trained in EMS
in addition to one ambulance during peak
hours, staffed with civilian EMS
personnel. The ambulance covers
150 square miles of Fresno County.
The city is projected to grow
significantly in the near future which
will allow us to bring on additional
personnel and staff new stations.
