Hazard mitigation is an action that is taken to reduce or to eliminate the risk to human life and property from hazards, either from nature or man-made.

The City of Selma is dedicated to assessing hazards in the city and taking steps to reduce any loss due to those hazards.

Current News

The City of Selma is participating in the Fresno County Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan.  Selma is planning on having an annex in the County plan that will directly address hazard mitigation in Selma.  By having an approved annex in the Fresno County Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan, the City of Selma will be eligible for certain disaster assistance and funding from FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) after a disaster.
