The Selma Fire Department was established
in 1889 as an all volunteer fire department. Today we
proudly protect over 24,000 people in an area of six square
miles. We operate out of two fire stations that protect a
wide range of commercial, business and residential property.
Selma is a merging point of two major transportation routes,
Freeway 99 and Highway 43.
The Selma Fire Department is committed to providing the highest level of public service to the citizens of Selma and our surrounding communities. We do so by taking an all-hazards approach while protecting life, property, and the environment as we maintain a continuous pursuit of excellence in our profession.
Our staffing consists of 21 full-time personnel including the fire chief,
fire marshal, and 19 firefighting personnel, seven of which are certified paramedics. The department also consists of 10 reserve firefighting personnel.
