Overview for this Fiscal Year - A Message from the City Manager

We enter a new fiscal year with a great deal of excitement!  To meet the growing needs of our City, we have added the following positions to the 2005-06 Annual Budget:  Three new police officers, a safety dispatcher, a new firefighter/paramedic, a fire inspector, an associate planner, and a part-time custodian.  These were added through the General Fund, while not having to cut other services.

As Selma is experiencing a great deal of commercial and residential growth, we are studying the services we provide and how we can be successful in providing quality service to our citizens.  A public safety ad-hoc committee is leading the way and will be bringing recommendations to City Council on our public safety needs and possible means of funding.

Within the coming year, we will be opening a skateboard park, continuing the search for a site for a new regional park, address a plan for our city capital equipment needs and begin reconstruction of a recently purchased building to house the Raisin' Cain Players - our Community Theater.
