Selma's Housing Element |
||||
|
The City of Selma is currently updating the Housing Element of the City's General Plan. The City expects to adopt its updated Housing Element sometime in 2010 after adoption of the other elements of the General Plan, which are being handled as a separate project (see Planning Division home page). There are seven required elements of a community's General Plan but only one, The Housing Element, is subject to detailed statutory requirements and mandatory review by a State agency. These requirements were written into State law in 1969 in recognition of the state-wide importance of housing availability in California. The City submitted a Draft Housing Element to the State Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) in 2008, and has received and reviewed HCD's comments on it. Once the City has adopted the rest of its General Plan, the City will make sure all the information in the Draft Housing Element is current, and it will be made available to the public for review and comment. It will then be brought before the Planning Commission for review and the City Council for adoption. Please refer to the Events link on this web page for the most updated schedule of events relating to the Housing Element or other housing issues or contact:
