The Cultural Arts Center is home to a
variety of programs offered
through the
Recreation and Community Services
Department, Raisin Cain Players, Cool
Kids Players and
the Selma Arts Council. Recreation
staff, Raisin Cain Players, Cool Kids
Players and the Selma Arts Council
continue to support, promote, develop
and offer a variety of cultural
experiences and programs to the
community and South Valley.
SELMA ARTS COUNCIL
The Selma Arts Council is made up of
fifteen volunteer members who sponsor a
variety of art related programs.
The group sponsors the Raisin Cain Players,
Art in the Park, art shows and the
Mariachi Festival. The Arts
Council meets on the second Thursday of
each month at the Cultural Arts Center,
1045 Rose Avenue at 6:30 p.m. The
public is always welcome to attend and
the Arts Council is always looking for
someone experienced or have the desire
to gain experience to direct a play.

DOWNTOWN COMMUNITY ARTS CENTER
Through the Selma Redevelopment Agency,
the City of Selma recently purchased a
building in the downtown business
district that will be reconstructed into
the new Arts Center. Presently,
the Arts Center Ad Hoc Committee is
preparing a budget for reconstruction to
take before the Selma Arts Council and
City Council. This will be quite a
project that should have a very positive
affect on the downtown business area.
Grants and donations will soon be
requested and any assistance is welcome.

Performing Arts
Beginning Acting
Classes
AGES 5 and 6
Beginning acting classes consist of two-hour sessions on
consecutive Saturdays. Watch for
upcoming classes. The cost
is $25.00 for the run of the program,
and each class may only have ten
participants.
C.K.P. Preludes
AGES 7 to 9
This
junior company presents a short pre-show
program prior to the main Cool Kid
Players show. The cost is $35.00 for
the session and the group is limited to
fifteen. Students must be able to read,
but no experience or audition is
necessary.
Cool Kid Players
AGES 10 to 15
The
youth involved in this show present an
hour-long feature with four
performances. There is no audition
necessary to join this group, but class
space is limited. The fee for this
program is $45.00.
