Animal Services


The City of Selma's Animal Services Center's focus is to keep pets with their families. We provide pet resources to the residents of the City of Selma.

The Selma Animal Services Center is located at 2831 W. Front Street and is open to the public from 10am to 4pm on Monday through Saturday. 

Calls for Service:
The Animal Services team is available to respond to calls for service Monday through Saturday from 8 am to 4 pm. After 4 pm Monday through Saturday and on Sundays, the Police Department will answer Priority 1 calls (dog bites, sick and injured, vicious animals). All non-priority calls will be referred to the Animal Services team for response the following business day.  The main phone number for Animal Services continues to be (559) 896-2525.  An additional phone number, (559) 218-1937, will be available during normal business hours for questions about adoptions or lost animals. Emergencies should always be reported to 911

 Animal Services Needs include, but not limited to: 

  • Providing emergency transportation for injured stray animals
  • Animal bite reporting/quarantine as necessary
  • Impound and temporarily care for stray and unwanted animals
  • Criminal investigations involving animals
  • Resolve citizen complaints regarding animals
  • License enforcement
  • Assist with animal traps as needed 
  • Dangerous/vicious animal enforcement
  • Assist with vaccination clinics
  • Coordinate euthanasia services when absolutely necessary
