Automated Solar Permitting (SolarAPP+)





For Solar Projects,
the City of Selma is implementing SolarAPP+ for automated plan check review of residential solar projects.

SolarAPP+ Benefits:

  • Obtain a pemit without needing a full plan diagram
  • Lower your costs, including three free revisions
  • Save time with instantaneous permit issuance once permit application is completed
As a result, SolarAP+ lowers costs and expedites solar installations, encouraging property owners to invest in generating renewable and sustainable energy.

System Eligibility:

  • Solar (Photovoltaic)
  • Solar (Photovoltaic) with Storage
  • Building-Integrated Solar (Photovoltaic)
  • Building-Integrated Solar (Photovoltaic) with Storage

Only projects that conform to the applicable list are eligible to use the automated SolarAPP+ permit application for instant permitting. All other solar/PV installations require a regular Solar Permit.

Application Process:

  1. Register through the SolarAPP+ Website (https://solarapp.nrel.gov/)
  2.  Submit your solar project in SolarAPP+
    1. Log in and submit plans.
    2. After the project is approved, download the approved documents for submittal in OpenGov.
  3. Permit and Inspection Card
    1. Go to the Selma Permit Center and select "SolarAPP+ Solar Permit) and follow the on-screen instructions to submit an application.
    2. Once all fees have been paid, a permit and inspection card will be issued electronically.
