Free Spay & Neuter Voucher Program

Due to high demand, all currently available spay and neuter vouchers have been distributed. We are actively exploring future funding opportunities and will share updates if additional vouchers become available.

The City of Selma and Selma Animal Services are proud to offer free spay and neuter vouchers to eligible City of Selma residents. Spaying and neutering pets helps reduce pet overpopulation, prevent unwanted litters, improve animal health, and decrease the number of homeless animals entering local shelters. Through this program, qualifying residents can receive assistance with the cost of sterilization services for their dogs and cats.

Each voucher covers:

• Spay or neuter surgery
• Rabies vaccination
• Initial pre-surgical examination

Who Can Apply?

• Be a resident of the City of Selma
• Present a valid government-issued photo ID showing a Selma address
• Apply in person at Selma Animal Services

How to Receive a Voucher

Vouchers are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis while funding is available.

To apply:

1. Visit Selma Animal Services on Saturdays between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
2. Present a valid photo ID showing a City of Selma address.
3. Complete the voucher application with Animal Services staff.
4. Receive a voucher if eligible.

Voucher Expiration

Vouchers must be redeemed within 45 days of issuance.

Any voucher that is not used within 45 days will expire and become void. This policy helps ensure limited program funding is used efficiently and allows more residents and pets to benefit from the program.

Important Program Information

The voucher covers only the spay or neuter surgery, rabies vaccine, and initial pre-surgical examination.

Pet owners are responsible for any additional services, treatments, medications, diagnostics, or fees recommended by the veterinary clinic. Examples may include:

• Blood work
• Additional vaccinations
• Flea, tick, or heartworm treatments
• Deworming
• Microchipping
• E-collars or cones
• Pain medications
• Follow-up care
• Any other services not specifically included in the voucher

The voucher has no cash value and may not be transferred, exchanged, or redeemed for cash.

This program is funded to assist residents who may face financial barriers to obtaining spay and neuter services for their pets.

Voucher availability is limited. Residents who are able to cover the cost of these services through their veterinarian are encouraged to do so, helping preserve voucher funding for families with the greatest need. By working together, we can help more pets receive essential care and reduce pet overpopulation throughout our community.
