Leaf Season Reminder

As fall leaves begin to drop, the City is reminding residents to keep gutters clear to help protect our streets and stormwater system.

Street sweepers are not designed to collect large piles of leaves. When big piles are pushed into the gutter, they can clog the equipment or cause breakdowns. If sweepers are at risk of getting damaged, they may need to skip certain homes or sections of a route.

Keeping gutters clear is especially important during the rainy season. Leaves can block the flow of water and contribute to street flooding.

How to Dispose of Leaves Properly
Residents can help by using one of the following options:
• Place leaves in your green Organics cart
• Bag leaves for regular yard-waste pickup
• If you use a gardening service, ask them to remove the leaves

These simple steps help keep our streets clean and ensure sweepers can continue servicing the entire community.
