Selma Police Investigating Fatal Traffic Collision Near Whitson and First Street

PRESS RELEASE

On June 1, 2026, Selma Police Officers responded to a traffic collision near the intersection of Whitson and First Street at approximately 8:00 am.

As officers arrived on scene, they determined that a male adult had been struck by a vehicle at, or about, this intersection and had succumbed to his injuries. Officers contacted the driver of the vehicle, who remained on scene and is fully cooperating with this investigation.

At this time, there appears to be no drugs or alcohol related to this incident.

The identity of the deceased is being withheld to ensure proper notification of next of kin. Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of the deceased.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area while investigators remain on scene. Temporary road closures are in effect and are expected to remain in place until the investigation is completed.
